Nationaal Park
Schiermonnikoog is a dynamic island where nature is allowed to roam free. Almost nowhere else can you find as many different landscapes in such a small space: forests; dunes full of fragrant plants and flowers; the beach; the salt marsh with its beautiful views’ and the farm lands brimming with birds.
With such a variety of landscapes; over 300 types of birds visit the island every year and a wealth of rare plants, it is no wonder that the island has been a National Park since 1989. Schiermonnikoog is one of twenty National Parks in the Netherlands, who together give an impression of the diversity of natural landscapes the country has to offer
